SALARY: £26,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience) HOURS: 5 days/ 37.5 hrs per week, flexible working ANNUAL LEAVE: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays CLOSING DATE: 12pm Monday 8th June 2026 LOCATION: Ceredigion/ Pembrokeshire/ Carmarthenshire/ Swansea/ Neath Port Talbot (or periphery areas to our catchment) WORKINGTYPE: Remote JOB TYPE: Fixed Term Contract - One year. Possibility of extension subject to funding and performance. Summary: West Wales Rivers Trust is looking for a River Restoration Officer to help deliver a series of ambitious river restoration projects. Working closely with partners, landowners and contractors, the selected applicant will help deliver a suite of projects across West Wales. We are looking for someone with experience of working with multiple stakeholders to deliver habitat or water-quality improvement projects, who is self-motivated and has a strong interest in ecology. The successful applicant will work on a range of projects including invasive species management, natural flood management and in-stream barrier removals. You will also represent West Wales Rivers Trust at regular meetings and community events. We are looking for someone with a passion for rivers and nature, the ability to work closely with partners or independently, and the drive to help us deliver a series of challenging, exciting restoration projects. You will be joining a small but growing passionate and energetic team. Whilst there will be regular meetings with Trust staff, most of the work would be on a home or site-working basis. This is a full-time position on an initial 1-year fixed term contract, subject to a satisfactory 3-month probationary period. It is the aim of WWRT that this position will be extended beyond the initial year, subject to successful fundraising and performance. Candidate Profile Essential Knowledge of river catchment and land management issues Experience of delivering works to improve river catchment and land management issues Experience in working with landowners to achieve multi-benefits Experience in managing contractors A confident and clear communicator with experience in working with communities Self-motivated and able to work effectively from home Ability to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends (a time-off in lieu system is operated by the Trust) Able to prioritise and plan activities to meet strict deadlines Excellent literacy, numeracy and report-writing skills Excellent presentation skills and communication skills Good computer literacy skills (e.g. with Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Valid driving license and own car, insured for business use Commitment to learning the Welsh language, if not already a Welsh speaker Desirable Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject Knowledge of the rivers of West Wales Experience organising and leading groups of volunteers Experience in developing successful funding applications Some knowledge or experience in the use of GIS mapping software.
