We are recruiting enthusiastic and forward‑thinking Consultants in Geriatric Medicine to develop and deliver high quality care for older people living with frailty in NHS Grampian. Aberdeen combines city amenities with a high quality of life and outstanding opportunities for research and teaching.
Role and Setting
Consultant‑level input will be provided to a 25‑bed Geriatric Assessment Unit in the Emergency Care Centre of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, a national exemplar recognised in the SCoOP Acute Hospital Outcomes report.
Additional work will involve community and hospital programmes, including Hospital at Home and linked‑geriatrician model services throughout Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.
Responsibilities
* Lead or support Early Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment as part of a highly functioning multidisciplinary team.
* Develop and deliver specialist services in Community Geriatrics, Hospital at Home, Ortho‑geriatrics, Surgical & Medical Liaison, Rehabilitation, Parkinson’s disease and other areas of interest.
* Participate in education, research, quality improvement and service design activities within a strong academic partnership with the University of Aberdeen.
Qualifications
* Full licence to practise with the GMC, in place before starting.
* Evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT, or within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register; or CESR, Portfolio Pathway route, or an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC.
