Senior Quantity Surveyor | Birmingham, UK
We are seeking to strengthen our cost management team in Birmingham with a chartered Senior Quantity Surveyor capable of leading some of our oldest and most valuable client accounts.
This is a rare opportunity to work on signature developments while contributing to the growth and direction of our growing and innovative business. You'll also have the chance to work on exciting, large‑scale projects in the city of Birmingham whilst playing a pivotal role within our Midlands cost management team and there'll be plenty of room for career development and growth.
We're currently partnered with several exciting clients providing cost management services on their developments which include large‑scale, prime high‑rise residential projects in the city centre. In addition to our signature projects, we are also working on a diverse portfolio of projects within the region which span across multiple sectors of the built environment.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor within our team, you would have the opportunity to put your skills and experience to use by working on some of TSA Riley's largest and most complex projects and signature clients.
Therefore, we're seeking a well‑rounded Senior Quantity Surveyor with excellent technical skills, a proven ability to successfully manage large‑scale developments and the ability to work closely with our clients and provide them with the highest level of service.

Key tasks and responsibilities of the Senior Quantity Surveyor role include:
* Working in a leadership role alongside a team of Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, reporting directly into the Executive Director while providing a cost consulting role to the client.
* Ensuring that our clients achieve their stated objectives through close teamwork, proactive cost control, and the provision of contractual advice.
* Managing clients and taking an active role in the profit and loss management for individual client accounts.
* Attending and/or chairing meetings with the client.
* Preparing financial reports.
* Monitoring the communication of a project status.
* Preparing full tender documentation.
* Providing advice on contractors, specialists, procurement routes, cost and programme solutions.
* Providing advice on suitability and preparation of contract documents.
* Preparing management reports.
* Monitoring performance milestones and deliverables.
* Administering cost/variation procedures.
* Carrying out full post contract surveying duties including establishing the effect of variations, settlement of accounts and disputes.
* Providing day‑to‑day cost management of projects from estimate preparation and cost planning through to final account settlements.
* Taking an active role in managing, mentoring and supporting the development of junior staff within the Birmingham office.
Desired qualifications and experience:
* A relevant degree or master's qualification in quantity surveying or a similar equivalent subject.
* Full membership of a relevant professional body such as the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or similar.
* Demonstrable experience of autonomously carrying out a full range of pre and post contract duties from conception through to final accounting within a reputable construction consultancy.
* Strong client facing and stakeholder engagement skills.
* A proven ability to work on large‑scale construction projects within the built environment.
* Experience of working on large‑scale, high‑rise residential projects and the build‑to‑rent sector is particularly desirable.
* Familiarity with common forms of contract such as JCT and NEC.
