Student Engagement Coaches lead the Student Success team's work to identify and proactively support students who are most at risk of poor outcomes, with a focus on improving non‑continuation. Using attendance and engagement data, you will design and deliver interventions to help these students navigate successful pathways to graduation, contributing to the delivery of an excellent student experience for all students.


Responsibilities

* To deliver strategic interventions for students at risk of poor student outcomes (primarily non‑continuation), including leading group and 1:1 meetings with students and creating study plans.
* To monitor student attendance and engagement data and identify those at risk of non‑continuation.
* To coordinate closely with academic and professional services colleagues in the design and delivery of interventions.
* To identify key areas of focus and undertake investigation and analysis, making recommendations for improvements across the student journey that would support students to progress.
* To meet regularly with students in need of support, including monitoring their progress.
* To record notes and prepare data on student progress and engagement to support decision making in relation to the Attendance and Engagement Policy.
* To support the specific attendance monitoring of students who have a visa, including in the delivery of the University's UKVI obligations.
* To support students across the student journey, including at pre‑arrival, during the transition to study period and during Welcome.
* To deliver proactive support designed to enable students to develop skills and confidence whilst studying, including for those who have experienced academic failure.
* To deliver campaigns that raise awareness of the support available to students.
* To understand services available to students and how they are accessed and signpost students to these services.
* To support the assessment of the team's impact and the evaluation of work undertaken, including monitoring the impact of engagement interventions.
* To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required.
* To ensure that you are aware of and aligned with Goldsmiths' Regulations, Strategy, and Objectives to proactively advance Equality and Diversity.
* To help maintain a safe working environment by participating in training as necessary and following the Goldsmiths' Health and Safety Codes of Practice.


Qualifications

* Educated to A‑level or equivalent.
* Experience of working with learners, ideally in higher and/or further education.
* Experience of working with learners from varied backgrounds, including international students.
* Awareness of the causes of low attendance and disengagement in learners.
* Outstanding and clear verbal communicator, with the ability to engage and motivate students in face‑to‑face settings and over the phone.
* Strong interpersonal skills, with empathy and understanding; ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
* Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing.
* Ability to learn new processes and platforms.
* Highly organised, able to manage competing demands and prioritise work effectively.
* Self‑motivated, proactive, and able to work autonomously.
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; confident in data entry and manipulation.
* Commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
* Interest in supporting students to succeed.
