College of Arts Humanities and Social Sciences / The School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences – Teaching Office

Full time: 35 hours per week

Open ended/Permanent

The School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences is seeking to recruit a full time, open-ended Teaching Administrator.

The Opportunity:

The successful post holder will provide professional administrative support to School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences degree programmes within a creative and changing academic environment: supporting teaching (in-person and digital) and assessment processes for a number of courses; engaging with undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate taught (PGT) students, course organisers and the academic community.

They will form part of a wider Teaching Organisation team, and will also work collaboratively with others in the Student Services function, contributing to the overall support provided to students across their time with the School.

The School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences provides an exciting work environment through its three subject areas that have a diverse and dynamic research and teaching portfolio.

We are recruiting to an ideal start of around early-mid October 2025.

The role shall be based within Dugald Stewart Building (Central Campus) with opportunities for discussion on informal hybrid workplace arrangements available at the time of offer.

Your skills and attributes for success:

1. Vocational qualifications (N/SVQ 2/3, ONC or equivalent) plus relevant work experience; or school education to Standard Grade or equivalent plus relevant work experience.
2. Ability to plan, prioritise and organise a demanding workload as part of a collaborative team.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly, helpful, approachable and confident manner towards students and staff.
4. A pro-active approach to seeking out information to deal with enquiries from staff and students
5. Competent and proven digital and IT skills; Microsoft Office applications – Word, PowerPoint, Excel – including Office 365 and SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, email, web.
6. Experience of University student administration and student systems, including course administration would be highly desirable.
