Overview
Due to expansion, we are looking to recruit a member of staff to join our small, friendly but busy Poultry veterinary laboratory near Cambridge. The post requires a self-motivated person with good communication and IT skills who can contribute to the smooth working of a veterinary and laboratory team.
The Laboratory is UKAS ISO/IEC 17025 and DEFRA approved, and thus operates under highly regulated conditions because of the need to control the quality of results. The main testing includes Salmonella isolation and confirmation (including S.enteritidis vaccine strain check), Rapid Slide Agglutination serology for Mg, Ms and Sp antibodies. Other laboratory testing activities not in our scope include serological testing using ELISA and HI tests, Farm and Hatchery environmental hygiene monitoring, Water testing, and bacteriology to support post mortem work. We also perform oocyst and worm egg counting from faeces or litter. Previous experience in bacteriological and ELISA techniques would be advantageous but not essential.
The candidate for the role needs to be self-motivated with good communication and IT skills who can contribute to the smooth working of a veterinary and laboratory team.
This is a full-time role and includes some weekend work on a rotational basis once training is completed. Salary dependent on qualifications and experience.
