Cosmetic Surface Repair and Fine Finishing Technician | South West England (Devon and Somerset) | Full Time | £27,000 – £30,000 per annum
Our client is a specialist in surface repair and coatings, able to repair and recoat almost any type of surface. Work is carried out either in situ or at their workshop, with services provided mainly to the building sector as well as domestic customers. They operate across Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.
They are seeking a Cosmetic Surface Repair and Fine Finishing Technician — a practical, hands-on individual with excellent attention to detail and strong hand-to-eye coordination. Ideally, you will bring existing surface or fine finishing skills, with experience in areas such as cosmetic surface repair, vehicle spraying, French polishing, factory spraying, vehicle repair or furniture spraying.

Practical hand skills with excellent attention to detail and good hand-to-eye coordination
Experience in surface repair, vehicle spraying, French polishing, furniture spraying or similar is desirable, but not essential
Honest, enthusiastic, proactive and self-managing
Organised, tidy, flexible and efficient with a good work ethic
Strong communication and customer service skills
Must not be colourblind (mixing and matching paints is required)
Full UK driving licence (max 3 points) and over 25 years old (for insurance purposes)
Comfortable working at height using ladders
Able to satisfy a DBS check (formerly CRB)
CSCS card preferred (can be arranged if not already held)
What will your role look like?
Travel directly from home in a company van to customer sites across the South West
Carry out in-situ surface repairs and refinishing to a wide range of materials (wood, stone, metal, plastic, laminate, brick and more)
Repair damage such as chips, scratches, gouges, scuffs and scrapes on baths, showers, doors, windows, worktops, floors and other surfaces
Use SMART repair techniques to restore surfaces back to their original condition
Work within allocated time slots (2, 4 or 8 hours) and gain customer sign-off via company app
Communicate with the office for updates and further job instructions
Maintain van, tools, materials and equipment in good order
Manage stock levels by placing orders (supplied free of charge)
Represent the company in a professional manner at all times
What can you expect in return?
Salary: £27,000 – £30,000 per year (negotiable depending on experience and ability)
Full-time, permanent contract (approx. 40 hours per week, with some flexibility due to travel)
Company van, fuel card (business use), uniform, PPE, tools and materials provided
29 days of annual leave, including bank holidays
