Position - Project Planning & Assurance Lead

Type - Contract

Rate - Circa £55.00 per hour Umbrella Co OR PAYE equivalent (DOE)

Duration - 10 Months +

Hours - Typically 40 hours per week

Determination - Inside IR35

Security - UK BPSS / SC Security Clearance to be in place

Location - Stoke Gifford, Bristol, UK

Main Purpose of Role

The Project Planning & Assurance Lead provides support across all SSE contracts, leading project assurance reviews, health checks, and improvement initiatives. The role works alongside other project controls specialists, and provides the interfaces into the central Babcock Group project controls team to ensure industry best practice is utilised across all SSE contracts.

The Project Planning & Assurance Lead also provides ownership of the local SSE planning tool (MS Project Server) to ensure this fulfils current and future SSE business requirements. This entails delivering training and support to users, and also leading on the development and improvement of the tool.

The Project Planning & Assurance Lead is central to successful project delivery through the assurance of project controls processes, quality of the data held, and the functionality of the supporting tools.


Responsibilities

* Provide support across SSE contracts, leading project assurance reviews, health checks, and improvement initiatives.
* Collaborate with other project controls specialists and interface with the central Babcock Group project controls team to ensure industry best practice is utilised.
* Own and maintain local SSE planning tool (MS Project Server): deliver training, provide user support, and lead development/improvement efforts.
* Ensure effective project controls processes, high data quality, and robust tool functionality to enable successful project delivery.


Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences

* Experience in a project controls environment, specifically planning and/or scheduling, and experience of undertaking project assurance reviews and/or health-checks.
* Experience in other areas of project controls and project governance/audits is advantageous.
* Extensive experience and knowledge of Microsoft Project Server (Project Web App - PWA), and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
* Experience/knowledge of Primavera P6, Power BI, and SharePoint is advantageous.
* Prior experience in coaching, process development, improvement initiatives, and communities of practice is advantageous; UK Defence or similar industries experience is advantageous.


Qualifications

* HNC or equivalent level of education.
* Project management / project controls qualification (e.g., APM Project PFQ/PMQ) would be beneficial; training/qualification opportunities will be provided.
