Assistant management accountant

I am working with a well-established and highly successful engineering business based in Rotherham, recognised for delivering high-quality products and services to customers across a range of sectors. Following a sustained period of significant growth, they have further expansion forecast.

Due to the company’s forecasted further growth over the coming years they are now looking to strengthen its finance team with the appointment of an Assistant Management Accountant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation at a key stage in its development.

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will gain exposure to a broad range of accounting and reporting responsibilities while playing an important role in supporting the day-to-day finance function.

The Role

You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function, taking ownership of core accounting processes while assisting with month-end reporting and financial analysis.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and reconciling bank accounts
• Processing and allocating customer receipts
• Assisting with month-end accounting activities
• Posting overhead journals
• Preparing accruals and prepayments
• Supporting monthly reporting requirements
• Producing analysis of overhead costs and financial performance
• Providing accurate financial information to support management meetings
• Supporting the Financial Controller with ad hoc projects and reporting requirements

About You

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who enjoys working with numbers and is keen to develop their accounting knowledge.

You may already be working in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant or Finance Assistant role and be looking for your next step.

The ideal candidate will have/be:

• Previous experience within a finance or accounts environment
• Studying CIMA/ACCA (advantageous not required)
• Strong Excel and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• A proactive approach and willingness to learn
