Student Specialist Community Public Health Nurse: Health Visitor
Specialist Community Public Health Nurse Student (SCPHN) Starting September 2026
We are looking for a motivated, registered nurse or midwife to undertake a one-year fixed term, full‑time (37.5 hours/week) Masters level training to become a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse. The role includes 50% practice and 50% theory, led by UWE, providing practical experience across multiple localities within BNSSG.
Main duties
As an SCPHN student you will:
* Work as a registered nurse or midwife, completing a 52‑week Master’s programme.
* Gain practical experience in health visiting and school nursing across diverse community settings.
* Be assessed by a practice assessor on proficiency, and meet the standards required for entry to the SCPHN register.
* Attend academic sessions at UWE and participate in organisational learning sets, role‑specific training, and public health nursing teams.
* Provide direct contact with families in schools, homes, and community venues.
* Maintain a full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.
Qualifications
* Registered nurse, midwife or qualified nurse (mental health, learning disability, adult, children's).
* Valid driving licence with access to a car.
* Current full NMC registration.
Experience
* Experience working with children or families.
Contract and working pattern
Fixed term, 12 months, full time, 37.5 hours per week, commencing 1 September 2026.
Salary and benefits
£32,073 per year (B5 SP1).

Job location
Various bases across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
