Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Registration on Part 1 or 12 of NMC Register (RGN or RN Adult)
Desirable criteria
2. Recognised Oncology/Haematology course
Knowledge
Essential criteria
3. Anatomy and Physiology for relevant clinical area
4. To have knowledge of systemic anti-cancer Treatments and the administration of these or a willingness to learn
5. Knowledge of acute oncology Emergencies, care and treatment
Desirable criteria
6. Care of patient receiving radiotherapy
7. Care of immuno-compromised patient
Experience
Essential criteria
8. post-registration experience
9. Administration of systemic anti-cancer therapy or (willingness to learn)
10. Acute Oncology including Oncology/Haematology emergencies or (willingness to learn)
Desirable criteria
11. Previous care of oncology patients
Other
Essential criteria
12. Cannulation and phlebotomy
13. Effective communication skills – both written and verbal / non-verbal
14. Excellent time management skills
15. Flexibility/Adaptability to be able to work across the Directorate as required to meet patient needs
16. Intravenous administration of drugs
17. Decision making skills – clinical and non-clinical

18. Recognised cytotoxic systemic anticancer treatment course
19. Ability to manage resources
20. Use of Hickman and PICC lines
