About the opportunity The Energy and Power team is focused on providing a whole system approach, offering end-to-end service to support our clients in Transmission & Distribution, renewable generation and energy storage solutions. We are helping our clients meet the challenges faced in countries and cities across the globe, providing innovative solutions to address the challenges of replacing conventional thermal power plants with renewable generation. Our Energy and Power team provides a range of services to our transmission and distribution clients. This includes work on transmission system assets (for example, overhead lines and pylons, underground cables, and substations), high-voltage direct current (HVDC) interconnectors for long-distance power transmission, energy storage systems, and renewable energy generation projects, like wind farms. We're recruiting an Electrical Engineering Apprentice to join our Electrical Transmission & Distribution team. As part of our Transmission & Distribution team, you'll learn about and gain experience in the following fields: * Analysing power system studies and system stability * Conceptual design * Designing power networks, high-voltage substations, lighting protection systems, and interconnector studies * Forecasting power load and demand * Producing high-voltage cable studies using industry standard power cable ampacity software (for example, CYMCAP, ETAP, EasyPower, Trimble, or SKM) * Selecting and evaluating substation sites, options, and also installing transformers and switchgears * Using current industry standard 3D modelling and data software to measure ground resistivity, design earthing systems, and visualise substation & switchyard layouts (for example, CDE3D, Revit, or Autodesk) * Value engineering References Joining Jacobs not only connects you locally but globally.
