Overview
Associate Ecologist - Bat Lead. We are searching for an experienced Associate Ecologist - Bat Lead at our Southampton facility. Primary duties include growing, managing and supporting our ecological team, delivering master planning inputs, ecological appraisals, botanical, BNG and protected species surveys and studies, mitigation design and construction and post-construction supervision and monitoring. The candidate location is in Southern England (Southampton, Cambridge, Oxford, Bristol, Plymouth) with flexibility for other locations.
Responsibilities
* Grow, manage and support the ecological team.
* Deliver master planning inputs, ecological appraisals, botanical, BNG and protected species surveys and studies.
* Design and implement mitigation plans; oversee construction and post-construction supervision and monitoring.
* Collaborate with the wider team and Directors to identify opportunities and secure new business/clients.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with team members, clients and external bodies.
* Demonstrate strong financial and project management skills; provide line management and client relationship management where appropriate.
* Apply a creative and strategic approach to project work and professional development.
Qualifications
* Established ecological consultant with line management and project management experience.
* Class 2/3/4 bat licences or specialist harp traps and radio tracking; bat mitigation licenses; experience designing and implementing bat mitigation plans; bat house experience.
* Very good communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.
* Demonstrable mentoring & coaching skills.
* Ability to identify opportunities and secure new business in collaboration with the wider team/Directors.
* Full driving licence.
* Knowledge of current methods, legislation, techniques and guidance for ecological services.
* Educated to degree level in a relevant subject with consultancy experience (preferred).
* CIEEM membership (Full) (preferred).
