Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest and most successful integrated care NHS Trust’s in the UK, with a team of 9,000 dedicated staff. We serve a wonderfully diverse population of over a million people in North west London and across the boroughs of Brent, Harrow, and Ealing.
Acute Medicine Service
As part of the restructuring of acute medical services at Ealing we are looking for candidates to join our team. Acute Medicine has a dynamic and enthusiastic team of acute physicians based at Ealing. The department has a well‑deserved reputation for excellence in teaching and training. The Acute Medical Unit is a 30‑beded ward with two acute consultants based on the ward during normal working hours. This post holder, along with colleagues from acute medicine and the Integrated Medicine Division, supports the team by supervising the acute medical take. The Ealing medical take is approximately 35‑40 per day, and this postholder will have a two‑PA commitment to the on‑call acute medical take. The Ealing Medical SDEC unit is co‑located with the Acute Frailty Service and the department is now seeing upwards of 200 patients per week, approximately 40% of the medical take.
Responsibilities
As an Acute Consultant you will be expected to participate fully in the provision of acute medicine services, including clinical governance, service development, teaching, and research. You should have experience in Acute/General Medicine and are required to be on the Specialist Register (AIM or GIM) within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview.
Details of the Post
This is a full‑time 10 PA post with two DCC to the acute on‑call rota. Applications from candidates wishing to work less than full time are also welcomed. The post is predominately based at Ealing with cross‑site working at Northwick Park as part of the role at a future date. All newly appointed consultants will be offered to join the Trust’s consultant induction programme. More Details In The Job Description.
About the Trust
London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust is one of the largest integrated care Trusts in the country, bringing together hospital and community services across the boroughs of Brent, Harrow and Ealing. Our 9,000 staff, including 1,300 doctors and 4,000 nurses, serve a diverse population of approximately 850,000. The Trust was established in October 2014 following the merger of The North West London Hospitals NHS Trust and Ealing Hospital NHS Trust and has an annual budget of over £640 million. This is a pivotal time for the Trust as we pursue a transformational programme of activity to improve the way healthcare is delivered across the acute and community settings in North West London. To evolve as an organisation, we must create an identity and culture that will support the ambitions we have for our services ‘to provide excellent clinical care in the right setting by being compassionate, responsive and innovative.’ During this exciting period of opportunity and change, we have a clear plan to address our challenges and, with the commitment of our teams, we are making significant progress. We continue to lead the way in a number of clinical services, including the country’s best stroke service and St. Mark’s Hospital, an internationally renowned specialist centre for colorectal diseases. We are also a leading provider in undergraduate and postgraduate medical training and education.
