Our leading global consulting, construction engineering client is seeking Assistant Quantity Surveyors on a permanent basis to support Severn Trent Water projects based out of Tamworth.

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the delivery of capital projects for water companies and the Environment Agency-primarily in the Midlands, with opportunities to contribute to consultancy work in the North West. This role offers structured development and exposure to sectors including defence and nuclear.
Reporting to the Water Cost and Commercial Lead, you'll assist in the commercial management of infrastructure projects throughout the full lifecycle. From feasibility to final account, you'll apply your growing knowledge of NEC3/4 contracts, procurement, and stakeholder engagement to support value-driven delivery and compliance.
Responsibilities
Assist in administrating NEC3/4 ECC contracts (Options A, C & E) on the client side
Support budget tracking, payment valuations, and cost forecasting
Maintain commercial records and assist with resolving contractual queries
Work with Project Managers on payment certification and defined cost analysis
Contribute to feasibility studies and cost planning
Assist in preparing and evaluating tender documentation
Help identify risks and support mitigation planning
Support contract administration and ensure compliance with terms
Monitor costs, assist with variation assessments and claims
Contribute to final account preparation and post-project reviews
Qualifications & Requirements
Degree in Quantity Surveying (Bachelor's or Master's)
Progress toward RICS chartership or equivalent professional development
Experience or interest in water, environment, defence, or nuclear sectors
Familiarity with CDM regulations and risk management
NEC3/4 contract expertise (Options A, C, E essential)
Exposure to ECI/ESI in design & build programmes is desirable
Valid CSCS card; Water Hygiene Card beneficial
Willingness to work on-site a minimum of 3 days per week
Right to work in the UK; role subject to client interview and acceptance

Salary range £30-45k depending on experience
Monday - Thursday - 37.5 hour working week (Friday WFH)
26 days holiday, increasing by 1 day for 1 year served and up to 28 after year 3
