We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Pilot Studies to join the School of Engineering at UWE Bristol on a 12-month fixed-term contract at 0.5 FTE, with the possibility of extension or change of contract subject to organisational needs.
This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery and development of the Aerospace Engineering with Pilot Studies programme, with a particular focus on leading the Level 6 module Pilot and Airline Operations.
We are particularly interested in candidates with strong aviation industry experience, ideally as a commercial pilot, flight instructor, or in airline/aviation operations. Expertise in areas such as air law and regulation (e.g. CAA/EASA/ICAO frameworks), air operator certification (AOC), flight crew licensing, safety management systems, and pilot training pathways will be highly valued.
Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of the Level 6 module "Pilot and Airline Operations".
* Support the development of the Aerospace Engineering with Pilot Studies programme.
* Collaborate with colleagues and provide support where appropriate.
Qualifications
* Postgraduate qualification in Aerospace Engineering, Aviation, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
* Strong combination of academic knowledge and professional aviation experience.
* Experience delivering training such as flight instruction, simulator training, or classroom-based teaching.
* Experience in higher education teaching is advantageous.
* Specialised knowledge in air law, regulation, AOC, flight crew licensing, safety management, and pilot training pathways.

This post is based at the Frenchay campus and offers some opportunity for remote/home working.
