Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm (30‑minute unpaid lunch break)
Salary: £38,000 – £42,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience)
Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic, fully qualified 18th Edition Electricians to join a well‑established and growing electrical services team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within the commercial and domestic sectors, supporting installation, maintenance, and testing works across a wide range of client sites. The ideal candidate will be a skilled, motivated, and flexible professional capable of working independently and as part of a team. You will take pride in delivering high‑quality work, maintaining excellent standards of safety and compliance, and providing a reliable service to our clients.
Role Responsibilities
You will work across multiple disciplines within the electrical department, typically split as follows:
* Maintenance & minor repairs – 30%
* Minor works – 30%
* Electrical installations – 30%
* Test & inspections – 5%
* Breakdowns – 5%
Key Duties:
* Carry out electrical installation, maintenance, and repair works in commercial, industrial, and domestic environments.
* Diagnose, repair, and test electrical faults efficiently and safely.
* Install, inspect, and maintain single and three‑phase systems, distribution boards, and cable management systems (plastic & steel conduit, trunking, traywork).
* Undertake emergency lighting and fire alarm system work (experience advantageous).
* Perform portable appliance testing and data cabling installations as required.
* Complete all necessary certification and documentation accurately, ensuring compliance with BS 7671:2018 + A2.
* Follow company health and safety procedures and industry best practice.
* Liaise with clients, site managers, and colleagues to deliver projects on time and to specification.
* Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain technical knowledge and compliance.
Person Specification
Essential Experience & Skills
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical installation and maintenance.
* Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent time‑served background.
* Proven experience across industrial, commercial, and domestic sectors.
* Strong understanding of BS 7671 and relevant wiring regulations.
* Competent with single and three‑phase systems and associated components.
* Confident diagnosing and rectifying faults.
* Basic IT skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Excellent attention to detail and a proactive work ethic.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Experience
* Experience with fire alarm systems, door entry systems, and security systems.
* Knowledge of BS 5266 (Emergency Lighting) and BS 5389 (Fire Detection and Alarm Systems).
* Familiarity with renewable energy systems.
Education & Qualifications
Essential:
* City & Guilds 2356 or 2357 NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
* City & Guilds 2382‑18 – 18th Edition.
* City & Guilds 2391‑52 – Test & Inspection (or equivalent).
* Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable:
* ECS Card (valid for at least 6 months).
* IPAF / PASMA certification.
* Asbestos Awareness training.
