Previous Applicants need not apply Careers Advisor Salary - £33,945 - £38,223 pro rata (Grade 6) Hours - 18.5 Hours per week Contract type - part time, permanent We are looking for a creative, flexible, and highly organised careers guidance professional with a Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance and Development or equivalent. An individual with a Level 4 in Advice and Guidance with a willingness and commitment to undertake study to complete the relevant Level 6 units will be considered. The Connexions Service is the lead agency in the City of Wolverhampton supporting young people through their transition to adult life and focussing on their progression to education, employment or training. The service is targeted at those most at risk of becoming NEET and those who are NEET and within this group those from key vulnerable groups’ i.e. young offenders, LAC, homeless, teenage parents and young people with SEND. The service works with the young people to help them to identify and assess the impact of the barriers to their progression and uses solution focussed interventions to enable young people achieve their potential. The service also provides careers information, advice, guidance, and support to young people 13-19 [up to 25 for those young people with special educational needs or disabilities] to help them make informed choices about learning, employment and training and has a statutory responsibility to support the participation in learning of all young people until their 18th birthday. Working in a range of settings such as schools, the Local Authority setting and, in the community, the Careers Advisor will manage a caseload of young people and will provide careers information, advice and guidance to enable young people to develop career management skills and make informed choices about learning and work, and support them through transition to post school education, employment and training. The Careers Advisor will help young people evaluate their progress and achievement and will write individual action plans or Career Pathway Plans to track progress and development. They will also contribute to the reviews of young people with Education, Health and Care Plans for those young people with SEND. The role also requires the ability to advocate for those young people who have additional and significant needs to help them address barriers and make well informed choices about their future education, training and employment plans. An awareness of the barriers faced by those special educational needs and those young people using augmentative and alternative communication methods would be advantageous.
