We are looking for a Senior Pipeline Engineer part of the pipeline engineering team supporting Costain engineering efforts from Front End and detailed design through to construction, Integrity management and commissioning of Energy projects. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated engineer with proven professional experience in pipeline engineering design or pipeline integrity management to join our team. The role offers engineering variety to further support your knowledge and experience including pipeline mechanical design, route selection and other critical aspects of pipeline engineering design as well as integrity management and fitness for service of existing assets. This is an exciting and rewarding position to become part of Costain’s innovative leading-edge team delivering high value efficient solutions to our varied clients Responsibilities Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Responsible for the preparation and delivery of design work in accordance with Company Procedures under the guidance of a Principal Engineer Under the supervision of the Principal Pipeline Engineer, preparing design deliverables for FEED and EPCM projects, including alignment sheets, pipeline route maps, and construction drawings. Complete stress analysis, wall thickness calculations, and participate in material selection studies covering both metallic and non-metallic pipeline systems. Issue technical documentation such as specifications, datasheets, and design basis reports for internal review and approval. Perform pipeline routing studies and assist in preparing right-of-way drawings. Support procurement activities, including material requisitions and vendor data reviews. Assist in construction planning, cost estimation, and schedule development. Participate in site surveys, data collection, and interface coordination with clients, contractors, and other disciplines. Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes and standards (e.g., IGEM, ASME B31.4/B31.8, API, ISO). Support Principal engineers in risk assessments, HSE compliance, and constructability reviews. To report back to the Lead Pipeline Engineer and/or Discipline Manager recommendations for continuous improvements in performance and removal of constraints. To be aware of legal and organisational responsibilities regarding Health, Safety Sustainability and Environmental issues with respect to employees, contractors, clients and third parties, ensuring that activities are all managed in accordance with Company policy and client requirements LI-MR1 Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or civil engineering. Proven experience in pipeline engineering design or pipeline integrity management Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and pipeline analysis tools (e.g., CAESAR II, PIPESTRESS) is desirable Demonstrated ability to work in and contribute to a team environment Proficient in Microsoft office tools. Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Be a team player with excellent communication skills and proactive in engaging with colleagues and relevant stakeholders Work with paramount consideration of Health, Safety, Environment, Risk Reduction and management.
