We are looking for a VFX Editor who reflects the collaborative mindset and passion for great filmmaking that define ILM.
The VFX Editor is responsible for communicating with the client editorial team and overseeing client turnover. This involves maintaining the flow of important editorial information and databases for show production, supervisors, and artists.
What You’ll Do:
1. Communicate with the production team and client editorial; including tracking all stages of the client cuts, internal cuts, and iterations.
2. Maintain the in-house editorial database, tracking render lengths and adjusting cut lengths according to client updates.
3. Provide line-up information for retimes and/or post-moves to artists and supervisors.
4. QC and ingest plates, consolidated media, and on-set reference material provided by clients and scan facilities.
5. Update and QC sequences with new dailies from VFX artists.
6. Provide abbreviated cuts and material for client reviews where needed.
7. Work with the VFX and/or Animation Supervisor to present creative edits to the client when required.
8. Output sequence movie files, AIFF audio files, and EDLs.
9. Handle show wrap-up duties including archiving tasks and editing finals and awards reels.
10. Perform special projects under the supervision of the Editorial HOD, Production Manager, or VFX Supervisor, such as future show bidding reels or providing visual references for production.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Experience as a VFX Editor in a production and VFX facility environment supporting feature or episodic projects.
2. A solid understanding of VFX pipelines and team structures.
3. Strong ability to multitask and meet deadlines under tight schedules.
4. A self-starter capable of working independently and collaboratively, maintaining positive relationships within ILM London and global teams.
5. An effective communicator, adept at working with diverse colleagues.
6. Comprehensive understanding of editorial materials and workflows (e.g., formats, codecs, transcoding, exporting).
7. Proven experience with editorial databases such as Shotgun.
Nice to have:
1. Previous experience with Avid Media Composer and DaVinci Resolve.
2. Understanding of Microsoft Excel.
3. Experience with ingesting performance capture and witness cameras.
This role is Hybrid, which means the employee will be required to work a minimum of 2 days on-site per week at a Company designated location, and occasionally from home.
