At Milestones Trust we start with the person. We understand that to build the right support for someone, we need to understand their individual care needs, wants, and ambitions and tailor our services to reflect their changing circumstances and desires as they progress through life.
This is a position for one member of staff working two 16-hour shifts per week that will include some weekend working & 2 sleep-ins. The project works on a 4 weekly rolling rota so the shift days will vary.
You will be responsible for encouraging and supporting an adult with autism and a learning disability to define and develop his chosen lifestyle, being active and fulfilled in his own home and the community.
We support this gentleman 24-hours a day including an overnight sleep-in, providing person-centred care on a 1:1 basis at all times. Areas of support will include cleaning, cooking & all necessary help to ensure his home is a safe & pleasant environment.
Shifts times are 10:00 - 23:00 (Sleep-in) 07:00 - 10:00.

Support with medication, attending appointments & liaising with health professionals is essential so he remains fit & well.
Working closely with his family who are responsible for his finance to ensure he has everything he needs to maintain a good quality of life.
This is a lone-working role and the right person will be self-motivated and able to manage their shift effectively, to communicate professionally both in writing and verbally, including with your team and management, health and social care professionals, and family.
This gentleman would love a personal assistant to join his team who is willing to spend time getting to know and understand him, who is able to gently encourage him to be as independent as possible, and who will engage with his hobbies and interests, like buddleias and butterflies.
While experience working with people with an autistic spectrum condition, who can sometimes express themselves with behaviours that could be considered challenging would be an advantage, it is not essential and we will provide you with the full training for you to carry out your role.
The successful personal assistant will:
* Be passionate about promoting independence, the rights of people with disabilities and safeguarding vulnerable adults from abuse
* Be willing to support this gentleman in all areas of his life
* Be calm, patient and understanding at all times
* Be willing to support the service by undertaking administrative work like updating paperwork and using Trust IT systems
* Support him to maintain his relationship with his family including regular visits
* To be a driver would be an advantage
