The role
will support social work teams and management by leading on complex cases, mentoring and contributing to strategic initiatives.
Staff wellbeing is a priority in NPT and we endeavour to promote this constantly. The successful applicants will join safeguarding teams and have access to established management structures (each team is resourced with one Team Manager, two Deputy Team Managers and one Consultant Social Worker); regular supervision (at a minimum of every 28 days); flexible working arrangements, such as compressed hours; and access to training for ongoing learning and development opportunities. Neath Port Talbot Children’s Services has one of the lowest caseloads across Wales (averaging less than 15), allowing staff the capacity to provide high quality support whilst also having a healthy work life balance. In Neath Port Talbot we use our own IT system and we have a dedicated IT team who is able to respond to the needs of the service as they arise and develop our systems to support good practice.
Consultant Social Workers in NPT have the added benefit of being part of a Consultant Social work group who come together on a monthly basis to develop practice across the service. Current Consultant Social Workers in the authority describe the group as highly motivating and rewarding in terms of having peer support and time to develop personal as well as service led pieces of work. The successful applicant will be a welcome addition to this valued and experienced group of practitioners.
