Principal Clinical Psychologist - Adult Inpatient Central
A senior post in acute care psychology services at Ablett Unit, Glan Clwyd Hospital. Responsibility to provide psychological input, leadership and oversight, deliver biopsychosocial MDT, offer expert advice, consultation, training, supervision, and direct clinical input to service users and families.
Job Overview
Exciting and rewarding opportunity to help adults in acute care mental health services. Provide psychological leadership for delivery of MDT interventions and provide psychological interventions, staff training, support and supervision. Potential for combined posts with Older Adults Mental Health Acute Care Principal Clinical Psychologist.
Main Duties
* Active member of inpatient multidisciplinary mental health team.
* Provide highly specialised clinical psychology service including assessment, therapy and consultation.
* Work autonomously in line with British Psychological Society Code of Conduct and HCPC.
* Plan and deliver individual and group interventions, directly and via MDT.
* Maintain specialist caseload of adult clients with complex presentations, including neuropsychological assessments.
* Provide effective clinical leadership, offer advice and consultation in complex cases.
* Act as specialist resource to the wider professional community.
Qualifications & Knowledge
* Good Honours degree in Psychology.
* Eligibility for British Psychological Society Chartered status.
* Post‑graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent) accredited by BPS.
* Registration with Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Psychologist.
Desirable Criteria
* Well‑developed knowledge of specialised psychological therapies for difficult‑to‑treat groups.
* Knowledge of specialised therapies and assessment methodologies, including neuropsychology.
* Experience applying clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
* Experience representing psychology within multidisciplinary care.
* Ability to speak Welsh.
* Leadership and management skills.
Experience
* Substantial assessed experience as a senior clinical psychologist, relevant post‑qualification experience.
* Demonstrated further specialist training/experience through clinical supervision.
Aptitude and Abilities
* High level competence within designated speciality.
* Doctoral level knowledge of research design, methodology, and multivariate data analysis.
