Role Overview
We're seeking a hands-on Data Engineer & BI Developer to join a major transformation programme. This rolebines data-engineering and BI Development - you'll design and optimise data pipelines in Azure/Databricks, build robust data models and deliver advanced reporting in Power BI. You'll also play a key role in migrating legacy Cognos and DWH estates to the Microsoft stack.
Responsibilities
Data Engineering
1. Build and maintain data pipelines and Lakehouse architecture in Databricks.
2. Optimise data performance (indexing, partitioning) and troubleshootplex queries.
3. Automate source data integration for efficiency and scalability.
BI Development
4. Design and deploy Power BI Solutions (including Paginated resources)
5. Develop semantic models, measures, KPIs and CDE's for accurate reporting.
6. Reverse-engineer Cognos logic and implement equivalent solutions in Power BI
Programme Contribution
7. Support the Data Programme's strategic Azure solution design.
8. Refresh and improve Regulatory MI Dashboards
9. Provide cover for Finance and controlling MI reporting as needed.
What you'll need to succeed
10. Proven experience in MS Azure Cloud Dev/Ops, Data design and Databricks lakehouse architecture.
11. Advanced skills in Power BI (Desktop, Service, Paginated) and SQL (including SSIS)
12. Strong understanding of data modelling (star schema, Medallion architecture) and ETL frameworks
13. Ability to work with ambiguous data sources and deliver solutions in low-maturity data environment.
14. Hands-on experience with Performance Tuning and optimisation techniques.
