Overview
As Product Development Scientist, you will play a crucial role in developing our polyester film product portfolio by project managing and scaling up product developments from pilot line to production line. Working within the Technology and Innovation (T&I) Team, you will have the self-motivation and willingness to continuously improve your knowledge and skill set whilst working to the highest safety standards.
Responsibilities
* Manage the product development of polyester film products through a stage gate process from concept to full scale manufacturing.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including technical, manufacturing, quality, product stewardship and commercial groups, to ensure alignment from lab to market.
* Drive scale-up activities and ensure downstream process compatibility.
* Prepare business cases for new developments, including calculation of estimated trial and product costs.
* Prepare project plans and progress updates.
* Design, coordinate, document and review pilot and production line trials.
* Work as part of a team to operate and identify improvements to the pilot line.
* Prepare technical reports and presentations of a high quality.
* Present technical results and learnings to internal and external partners.
* Generate and analyse technical data according to the end application and product requirements.
* Contribute to broader T&I initiatives across the global team as required.
* Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with health, safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
* Degree in a Science discipline, or significant experience in a similar role.
* Previous experience in product development and/or manufacturing environment preferred.
* Self-motivated and results driven with excellent attention to detail.
* A methodical approach.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* A strong safety focus, both within own work and that of others.
* Ability to write procedures, trial plans and reports, and other related documents of a high quality.
* Ability to effectively communicate and present findings to a variety of audiences.
* Ability to plan and prioritise workloads.
* Strong planning and organisational skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Computer literate.
* Be adaptable and flexible to support trials outside of normal working hours, when required.
