Salary: Competitive package starting at approximately £70,000, based on your skills and experience.
Your Mission:
As a Principal Product Safety Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and integrity of our cutting-edge technologies. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
* Support Technical Authority teams in managing hazards, risks, and mitigations, contributing to the development of the hazard log.
* Lead product safety strategy assessments for major subsystems and complex technologies.
* Produce high-quality submissions, including hazard logs, safety cases, and safety plans.
* Organize and facilitate HAZIDs and review meetings, contributing to additional HAZIDs as needed.
* Collaborate with Technical Authority teams and Safety Engineers to gather essential product safety evidence for safety case arguments.
Your Skills and Experience:
We’re looking for candidates who bring the following:
* Strong knowledge of safety management processes and techniques.
* Experience across multiple phases of the Engineering Lifecycle, with a solid understanding of design principles.
* Familiarity with customer defense standards such as DSA-02, JSP430, Def Stan 00-56, MilStn 882E, and BS EN 61508.
* Proficiency in writing technical documentation to a high standard.
* Experience in Product Safety within Software Systems is a plus!
All engineers should hold an academic qualification in Engineering or related STEM fields, along with specific qualifications to become recognized as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through a professional institution. We encourage and support our engineers in achieving relevant accreditations, with preference given to those already registered.

About the Product Safety Team:
The Combat System is the heart of our platforms, and our Product Safety team ensures these complex systems are integrated safely through design and assurance. You’ll work both independently and collaboratively with fellow Product Safety Engineers, playing a critical role in maintaining the integrity of innovative technology from concept to disposal. As a key stakeholder alongside Design Technical Authorities, you’ll challenge the status quo and bring fresh ideas to a diverse portfolio of Combat System projects.
