Production Maintenance Shift Engineer
Hatfield (On-site)
£46,000 + £3,600 on-call allowance
We’re looking for an experienced Production Maintenance Shift Engineer to join our established maintenance team at our Hatfield Head Office. This is a key role within the MHE (Material Handling Equipment) department, focused on keeping critical systems operating safely, reliably, and to the highest standards.
This is a fully on-site role, working five days a week on a rotating shift pattern.
Shift Pattern
* 06:00 – 14:00
* 14:00 – 22:00
The Role
You’ll be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and reliability of automated material handling systems in a fast-paced operational environment. Key responsibilities include:
* Electrical maintenance of material handling equipment
* Fault finding and testing on PLC and three-phase systems
* Responding to breakdowns and completing planned maintenance activities
* Providing emergency response for critical equipment failures
* Maintaining machinery in line with agreed safety and performance standards
* Identifying, reporting, and rectifying defects promptly
* Supporting facilities and site activities when required
* Completing timesheets, maintenance documentation, and stock control
* Ordering consumables and managing associated administration
What We’re Looking For
* Qualified, time-served technician with a strong electrical background
* Proven fault-finding experience in a production or operational environment
* PLC experience (advantageous but not essential)
* Experience maintaining automated material handling equipment or similar systems
* Self-motivated, flexible, and a strong team player
* Clear and effective communication skills
* Comfortable working at heights
* Strong practical understanding of health & safety requirements
* Health & Safety training or certification, including high-bay racking access and controlled descent rescue procedures
Qualifications
* City & Guilds or BTEC in Electrical Engineering
* Basic mechanical skills
* Working knowledge of automated material handling equipment
