25% travel within the UK required.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
* Ensure solution design meets contract requirements, legislative, product safety, security and environmental/HSE standards.
* Analyse customer needs and assess support solution architecture and technical choices.
* Confirm solution compliance with customer needs, product policy, Make or Buy and Footprint (MoB&F) strategy, and applicable legislation.
* Approve technical specifications and source selection for outsourced subsystems/products, considering MoB&F policy, export restrictions and offset requirements.
* Review technical risks, opportunities and mitigation plans during the bid or project lifecycle.
* Coordinate with Production Process/Technology Manager and Service Engineering Managers on production, maintenance and service aspects.
* Ensure Engineering Environment (E2) is consistent with company instruction and overall solution cost, technical risk and schedule.
* Approve Design & Justification File (D&JF) prepared by the Solution Architect.
* Approve integration, verification, validation and qualification results.
* Organise technical meetings and peer reviews with stakeholders and experts.
About You
* Excellent technical writing and interpersonal communication skills.
* Proven leadership capability and ability to build strong relationships.
* First‑class presentation skills and the ability to manage relationships across the business.
* Effective personal organisation and composure under pressure.
Experience
* Significant technical expertise in one or more relevant disciplines such as Sonar Systems, Signal Processing or Outboard Hardware.
* Experience in whole systems engineering lifecycles for large complex systems.
* Proven design, development and support experience in systems engineering.
Desirable
* Experience in Maritime or Defence engineering.
* Degree or equivalent in an engineering or scientific discipline (Level 6).
Security Clearance Statement
This role requires a sole British National from birth and achievement of SC clearance without caveats. If not already held, the successful applicant must obtain and maintain SC clearance before commencing employment.
