Job Title: Engineering Manager - Mechanical Engineering (Ocean Interfaces) Location: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role Salary: Circa £60,000 What you’ll be doing: Lead teams to develop design solutions to agreed time, cost and quality in accordance with project or business milestones. Understand and develop the performance and contractual requirements for various systems and support the definition and associated acceptance criteria and events through design and into build, integration, installation and commissioning activities. Lead teams to produce documentation required to support the design process, including\: diagrams; technical specifications; supporting calculations; design evidence and justifications. Ensure design proving and contractual evidence is comprehensive, captured within the requirements management tools and has been endorsed by the appropriate level of authority. Undertake technical discussion and presentations to customers, partners and suppliers both domestic and international. Lead the review of team outputs and relevant supplier documentation and ensure it is captured and recorded appropriately. Approval of outputs to ensure quality and correctness. People management including coaching and development of team members, goal setting and regular check ins, to promote company objectives, career progression and ensure best practice and skills shared and maintained. Your skills and experiences: Demonstratable submarine knowledge. The Ocean Interfaces team: As the Engineering Manager – Mechanical Engineering (Ocean Interfaces), youwill play a pivotal leadership role at the heart of the engineering function, shaping both the technical direction and the people behind it. Leading and mentoring a high-performing team, the role provides hands-on day-to-day management of team leads while working closely with the Senior Engineering Manager to deliver complex platform systems. With a strong focus on capability building, the Engineering Manager actively develops engineering talent, strengthens technical competency, and fosters a culture of excellence. The role also provides strategic oversight of project planning and execution, ensuring engineering activities are well-governed, coordinated, and aligned with programme objectives.
