Overview
:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive agricultural & utilities Surveyor to support the delivery of land and property services on the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) contract. Based in West Cumbria, this role involves working closely with tenants and local stakeholders across a diverse rural estate, ensuring effective land management and supporting strategic objectives related to nuclear decommissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Undertake agricultural land inspections, valuations, and tenancy reviews across NDA-owned or managed landholdings.
2. Liaise with tenants, and rural stakeholders to manage land access, compensation, and agreements.
3. Support land referencing and mapping activities for infrastructure, utilities and environmental projects.
4. Assist in the negotiation and management of agricultural leases, licences, wayleaves and easements.
5. Provide expert advice on rural land use, stewardship schemes, and environmental compliance.
6. Contribute to strategic landholding reviews and estate planning.
7. Maintain accurate records and reporting in line with public sector governance and contract requirements.
8. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including planning, ecology, and environmental consultants.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
9. Degree-qualified in Rural Land Management or a related discipline.
10. Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
11. Proven experience in agricultural surveying, ideally within a public sector or infrastructure context.
12. Strong understanding of rural estate management, agricultural tenancies, and land access protocols.
13. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
14. Familiarity with GIS/CAD tools and land referencing systems.
15. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across West Cumbria and wider client portfolio.
Desirable:
16. Experience working on government or infrastructure contracts.
17. Knowledge of nuclear sector land management or similar regulated environments.
18. Understanding of biodiversity net gain (BNG), environmental land management schemes (ELMS), and rural planning.
