Jackson Hogg are delighted to be partnering with PD Ports in the search for an Engineer Officer of the Watch (EOOW) to join their Conservancy Engineering Team.
This full-time position will see you operate as part of the workboat fleet onboard the MPV vessel, supporting the safe and effective running of operations on the River Tees.
Working Arrangements

Shift Pattern: 12.5-hour shifts, week on/week off rotation (covering every other weekend, no planned night shifts)
Reporting to the Marine Engineering Superintendent, the EOOW will be responsible for carrying out operational and engineering tasks onboard the vessel as part of the crew, ensuring the vessel operates effectively in its duties supporting the River Tees.
Key Responsibilities

Collaboration: Work closely with a small operational crew, coordinating with other trades and supervisors to ensure smooth execution of maintenance and repairs.

Component Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks on vessel components and systems.

System Testing & Commissioning: Conduct regular system testing and commissioning following maintenance or repair work to confirm functionality and reliability.

Safety Compliance: Follow company and marine regulations, ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with operational standards.

Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of vessel systems, defects, maintenance activities, and resource usage.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking an experienced and adaptable engineer with a strong technical background in vessel operations and mechanical systems.
You’ll bring:

Experience & Qualification: EOOW certificate or equivalent qualification, with hands-on experience operating vessels featuring mechanical and hydraulic systems.

Technical Skills: Sound knowledge of marine engineering systems, fault-finding, and maintenance practices.

Problem-Solving Ability: A proactive mindset to diagnose and resolve technical issues as part of a live operational crew.

Adaptability & Flexibility: The ability to work across different vessels, schedules, and projects in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Team Player: Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a close-knit engineering crew
