Role Description
Internal progression and ever-increasing demand for the internal delivery of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical repair and manufacture has created a position for an Engineering Workshop Supervisor to support the Workshop Manager and operations with-in the maintenance / engineering facility.
The ideal candidate will have good practical experience of mechanical engineering production processes and associated machinery, fabrication / welding techniques, comprehensive understanding of electro-hydraulic systems and assemblies, core knowledge of vehicle based electronic systems.
This is a pivotal leadership role with-in a large established, busy engineering maintenance facility, providing maintenance support, equipment production and initiative product development solutions to supplement the company’s core business activities.
Principle duties will include
• Manage and supervise engineering maintenance activities, develop, and provide technical / hands on support to an established team of muti-skilled workshop technicians/site operatives.
• Ensure adherence to appropriate existing workshop procedures, the generation of risk assessments, safe working practices relating to the workshop facility, individual engineering tasks and production projects.
• The active monitoring and control progress timelines of tasks at key stages, ensure that target deadlines are successfully met. Liaise with the department management team as required.
• Accurately assess and cost engineering project tasks, assist the purchasing team source required component parts, materials, consumables, and assemblies, to ensure the timely, efficient delivery of projects to predetermined completion dates.
• Document and adequately record specific task information, for processing and use with the company’s Fleet database system.
• Ensure that required PPE is issued to, and utilised by engineering personnel, maintain comprehensive records of equipment issued, and used as appropriate.
• Ensure that all engineering equipment is maintained correctly, in good working order and safe to use, that equipment and workshop facilities are maintained at a high level of tidiness / cleanliness.
The ideal candidate will be a proven team leader with practically experience and conversant with mechanical engineering and fitting knowledge, resourceful team member able to embrace a varied and diverse workload.

Required Education, Qualifications and Skills.
• HND/C or City and Guilds in mechanical / mechatronic engineering.
• Theoretical, practical knowledge and awareness of Health & Safety procedures and effective implementation.
• Technically proficient in diagnostic and production engineering practises.
• Computer literate, CAD derived drawings, Word, Excel, Microsoft systems.
• Strong leadership skills, ability to influence team working. (5 years minimum experience in a comparable position / similar role).
• Excellent communication skills at all levels.
• The ability to appreciate, sustain and instil high standards of quality and service support.
• Experience in costing small engineering projects and repairs, knowledge in sourcing mechanical / electromechanical components, engineering materials and consumables.
• Proficient in engineering manufacturing techniques and production, basic machinery, tooling, and consumables.
