FLOWERPHUL CIC Head Gardener — Paid Seasonal Role
Locations: Osterley Park and House: Jersey Road, Isleworth, Middlesex, TW7 4RB and Bixley Fields Allotment: Merrick Road, Southall, UB2 4EJ
Role Summary
Flowerphul CIC is a community floristry organisation based in Southall. We use flowers as a tool for connection, culture, and wellbeing, working with people across West London.
We are looking for a Head Gardener to lead our community growing project at Osterley Park.
You will guide community participants in growing seasonal flowers and plants across two sites:
Osterley Park (Wednesdays) and Bixley Fields Allotment in Southall (Saturdays).
You will plan what to grow, lead practical sessions, and support participants who may have little or no gardening experience.
This is a hands‑on, community‑facing role. You will be the expert in the garden.
What you will be doing
* Planning and delivering the growing of seasonal cut flowers across both sites, maintaining high horticultural standards.
* Leading weekly sessions, demonstrating gardening techniques, and sharing your floristry knowledge with participants of all abilities.
* Managing and supporting a group of community to enable the successful sowing, tending, and harvesting of flowers.
* Improving visitor experience by ensuring the garden remains an aesthetic, safe, and enjoyable haven for all.
* Sharing ideas and encouraging new, sustainable growing techniques as a key member of the Flowerphul team.
* Acting as a mentor, helping participants build practical skills and confidence in both gardening and flower arranging.
Who we are looking for
You will love growing flowers, making a beautiful, nature‑rich garden, and being part of a project that improves a community space in a historic setting.
You will:
* Have solid practical experience of growing flowers or vegetables, ideally backed by RHS Level 2 qualifications or equivalent life experience.
* Be committed to sustainable growing, organic principles, and sharing your experience easily with others.
* Have excellent interpersonal skills, with a warm and patient approach to working with diverse audiences.
* Possess strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and lead a group effectively.
* Have a 'can‑do' attitude and personal drive, with a willingness to 'go the extra mile' to make the project a success.
* Demonstrate an enthusiasm for community development, historic gardens, and social enterprise.
What you will gain
* A leadership role with a community interest company (CIC) on a high‑visibility project.
* The chance to work within the stunning grounds of Osterley Park and House.
* The opportunity to see your work make a tangible difference in the wellbeing of local participants.
* A professional reference and testimonial from Flowerphul CIC.
Details
* Local Residency: Ideally you are based local to Hounslow or Ealing
* Hours: 6 hours per week (3 hours Wednesdays at Osterley Park, 3 hours Saturdays at Bixley Fields Allotment, Southall)
* Contract type: Paid sessional contract
