Job Description Summary Are you an engineering student who enjoys solving problems, working with data, building tools, and improving the way things work? Join our Research & Innovation team for a summer internship where you'll gain hands-on experience working on real projects that support the future of R&D. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical skills in a professional environment while learning how research teams use digital tools, data, and streamlined processes to work more effectively. Whether you're interested in Python programming, automation, process improvement, data analysis, or digital collaboration tools, this role will give you practical experience and exposure to real industry challenges. 3What you'll be doing As a Summer Intern, you'll support projects that help make research processes more efficient, structured, and easier to use across the business. You'll work alongside experienced team members and contribute to improvements that have real impact. You may be involved in: ?Developing or improving tools using Python or other programming languages ?Exploring how internal workflows operate and identifying ways to improve them ?Supporting digital collaboration and document-sharing platforms such as SharePoint or similar systems ?Helping improve the newly launched Research Process ?Analysing data and developing scripts or tools to speed up market analysis activities ?Working with colleagues across R&D to identify opportunities for better tools and smarter processes ?Documenting your work so that your solutions can be used and developed in the future 4Who we're looking for We're looking for a student who is: ?Curious and eager to learn ?Interested in solving technical and process-related challenges ?Comfortable working with data, systems, and structured information ?Able to work independently while also collaborating with a wider team 5What you'll bring You should be: ?Currently studying for a university degree, ideally in engineering, computer science, data science, information systems, or a related subject ?At least 18 years old and in the early stage of your university studies It would be great if you also have: ?Basic to intermediate programming skills, especially in Python ?An interest in automation, digital tools, process improvement, and data analysis ?A logical and structured approach to problem-solving ?Interest in tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft 365, or similar collaboration platforms ?Strong communication and analytical skills 6What you'll gain This internship offers the chance to: ?Gain hands-on experience in a professional R&D environment ?Work on meaningful projects that support real business needs ?Build practical experience in tool development, process improvement, and data analysis ?Learn how research teams use digital tools and workflows in industry ?Receive mentorship and insight into how innovation teams operate 7How to apply Please submit: ?Your CV / resume ?A short cover letter explaining your interest in the role and any relevant experience ?Optional: transcript, portfolio, GitHub profile, or examples of relevant projects Job Description Key Responsibilities During the internship, you will support a range of activities, including: Developing and improving new and existing tools using Python or other suitable programming languages Learning and understanding internal processes and workflows to help improve how information is structured and shared online Supporting the implementation and organization of online collaboration and document-sharing platforms, such as SharePoint or similar systems Assisting in the development and continuous improvement of the newly launched Research Process Conducting data analysis and developing scripts or tools to improve the speed and efficiency of market analysis Collaborating with team members across R&D to identify opportunities for process and tool improvements Documenting solutions, structures, and recommendations to support long-term use and development Who We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is curious, structured, and eager to learn. You should enjoy solving problems, working with data, and finding practical ways to improve how work is done. Preferred Qualifications Currently studying at university, preferably in engineering, computer science, data science, information systems, or a related field At least 18 years old and early in your university studies Basic to intermediate programming skills, in Python or other languages Interest in digital tools, automation, process improvement, and data analysis Ability to understand and structure information in a clear and logical way Interest in collaboration platforms such as SharePoint, Microsoft 365, or similar tools Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Good communication skills Able to work independently while also collaborating with others Additional Information Relocation Assistance Provided: No GE Vernova is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
