Job Title: Drainage Technician (Reactive Unblocking & No-Dig Repairs)
Location: Covering the East Midlands (field-based)
Contract: Full-time, permanent
About Us
Drain Doctor East Mids is part of a national network delivering fast, reliable drainage solutions, CCTV investigations, and no-dig repairs. We handle everything from emergency blockages to structural defects, including CIPP resin patch repairs, hydro-scrubbing/descaling (fat & limescale), and remedial works—always with clear communication and a customer-first approach.
Important (please read)
This is a reactive drainage and trenchless repair role.
If your experience is mainly installing new drainage on construction sites (groundworks / pipe-laying) and you have not worked on blockages, CCTV diagnosis, jetting, and drain repairs, this role will not be the right fit.
The Role
We're looking for a capable, customer-focused Drainage Technician who can attend jobs, diagnose issues properly, clear blockages, and carry out (or support) no-dig repairs. You'll typically run 3–4 jobs per day, completing reports/notes, explaining findings clearly, and spotting additional remedial work where appropriate.
What you'll be doing (day to day)
Reactive Drainage & Diagnosis
* Clear blockages in drains, gullies and toilets (rods / jetting / mechanical cleaning as required)
* Carry out CCTV drain surveys, interpret footage, and identify defects
* Trace problems and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations
No-Dig Repairs & Cleaning
* Install CIPP resin patch repairs (joints, cracks, small defects)
* Hydro-scrub / descale lines (fat, limescale, debris) and perform root removal where required
Customer Care & Quoting
* Explain findings in plain English (what it is, why it happened, what we recommend)
* Provide accurate on-site quotations and identify additional works appropriately
Self-Management
* Manage your workload, vehicle checks, kit, paperwork and job notes
* Work safely and professionally in domestic and commercial environments
Essential experience (this is how we'll shortlist)
You must have hands-on drainage experience (not just pipe installation), including:
* Clearing blockages as a core part of your role
* Using CCTV survey equipment and confidently interpreting findings
CIPP / patch repair experience is strongly preferred. If you've not done CIPP but you are an experienced reactive drainage engineer (blockages + CCTV) and can demonstrate it clearly, we'll consider you and train the right person quickly.
Qualifications/requirements
* Clean UK driving licence (required)
* WJA (preferred) and any relevant drainage qualifications (advantageous)
* Comfortable with a non-smoking working environment (including company vehicles)
What we offer
* Competitive salary: £31,800–£40,000 basic (DOE) + uncapped commission (realistic OTE up to £60,000+)
* Company van, fuel card, tools, uniform
* Training and development in CIPP patching, hydro-scrubbing/descaling and additional drainage repair techniques
* Company pension, on-site parking, progression opportunities
Working hours
* Monday–Friday day shifts (flexibility required)
* Some overtime and occasional weekends (as required)
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £31,800.00-£60,000.00 per year
