Role Overview
As a Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll take a leading role in the safe, compliant commissioning and energisation of either low (LV), high (HV) and extra‑high voltage (EHV) electrical systems at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset. Working within a highly regulated nuclear environment, you'll help transition complex systems from construction into operational readiness - a milestone that directly supports fuel‑load readiness and long‑term energy security.
The role is full‑time, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday with flexible hours available, based onsite in Bridgwater, Somerset.
Responsibilities
* Plan and coordinate electrical commissioning activities, ensuring resources, equipment and documentation are in place.
* Lead and execute commission of either LV, HV and EHV systems in line with safety rules and commissioning instructions.
* Apply and enforce nuclear, electrical and industrial safety standards through briefings, risk assessments and site oversight.
* Review and validate commission results, managing deviations and resolving technical issues with designers, suppliers and contractors.
* Produce and control commission documentation, evidence packs and system handover records.
Qualifications
* Proven experience commissioning of either LV, HV or EHV electrical systems in highly regulated environments.
* Hands‑on experience with electrical testing, energisation, protection relays, interlocks, Uninterruptable Power Supply and direct current systems.
* Strong understanding of electrical safety rules, permits to work and lock‑out/tag‑out processes.
* Experience analysing commissioning results and resolving technical or safety‑critical issues.
* Background producing robust commissioning documentation and evidence for regulatory handover.
* HND or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
* Ability to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
