Job overview
To assist the trust to achieve the national 18 week referral to treatment target (RTT) by having responsibility for analysing data relating to patient pathways, undertaking detailed patient level validation and liaison with various departments across the clinical directorates. To facilitate delivery of the 18 week target without the trust incurring financial penalties and risk associated with failure to provide data that is robust and fit for purpose. To provide a Data Quality Service to all departments within the trust whilst having to investigate, resolve and correct data quality issues identified via the 18 week PTL, Information Reports and routine audits.
Main duties of the job
To manage each patient journey from referral to treatment in an efficient and timely manner, to validate data to ensure the accurate recording of clock start and stop times, tracking and avoidance of potential breaches of RTT targets, whilst providing advice and support to relevant staff regarding RTT related issues. To provide a central point for referrals in to and out of the Trust ensuring that pathway data is correct and complete, recording this in to the Inter Provider Transfer Administrative Minimum Data Set (IPTAMDS) and that referrals arrive at the correct destination in the agreed timeframe.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
* Good General Education
* NVQ level 3 in relevant subject, or equivalent qualification / experience
Desirable criteria
* ECDL qualification
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
* Basic knowledge and understanding of 18 week RTT principles and implementation in an operational environment
* Basic understanding of all NHS access and performance targets
* Basic knowledge of NHS related legislation and codes of practice i.e. data protection, confidentiality and freedom of information
* Good keyboard skills
* Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people using various forms of communication and overcoming barriers to understanding
* Organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload within set operational guidelines
* Effective team player
* Aptitude for problem solving Attention to detail Data analysis and interpretation skills in order to comply with local and national policy and procedure
* IT literate - proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook Understanding of data quality policies and processes
* Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions
* Ability to use own initiative
Desirable criteria
* Understanding of the structure and workings of the NHS
* Previous experience working in a similar role
* Previous experience in the use of a Patient Administration System or other relevant healthcare information systems
* Experience in the use of all programmes within the Microsoft Office suite
* Previous experience in implementing 18 week RTT policy in a similar administrative role.
