Job summary
A Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist is required for our CAMHS Crisis/HTT Mental Health Team based in Bedford. This is a 0.8 wte, 8 sessions post.
Bedford CAMHS are part of the ELFT Specialist Services directorate, providing assessment and treatment of young people with mental health disorders up to the age of 18 years.
All ELFT CAMH Services comprise multidisciplinary teams based on care pathways including:
* Adolescent Mental Health Team
* Emotional & Behavioural Team(s)
* Neurodevelopmental Team (Learning Disability and Autism +/- ADHD)
* LAC / Targeted Team
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will contribute to clinical leadership, work within a multidisciplinary team, provide psychiatric assessments and treatments as appropriate, and manage high-risk cases.
The Trust encourages and supports formal training in Quality Improvement and leadership within services.

Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
* Fully registered with the GMC
* On the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT
* Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
* Approval under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
Knowledge & Experience (Essential)
* Experience in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at relevant levels within last 3 years
* Knowledge of the Mental Health Act
* Understanding of transcultural, gender issues, and social factors in psychiatry
Organisational Skills & Abilities (Essential)
* Leadership skills
* Teamwork and service development experience
Clinical Skills & Supervision (Essential)
* Leadership in multidisciplinary teams
* Risk assessment expertise
Teaching, Research & Audit (Essential)
