Job Overview
Oxleas NHS Trust, awarded the South West prison contract in 2022, is seeking Mental Health Nurses to work within the prison service on a flexible bank basis. We operate across 19 prisons in the South of England, providing mental health, physical health, pharmacy, and substance misuse services in an integrated healthcare model.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist mental healthcare to offenders as part of the Mental Health In-Reach Team and wider mental health services.
* Perform assessments, screening, triage, evidence-based interventions, care planning, and risk assessments.
* Manage a challenging caseload, including offenders with learning disabilities and mental health conditions.
* Contribute to reducing inpatient admissions and facilitate early discharges through high-intensity interventions and complex case management.
* Work closely with community mental health teams to ensure continuity of care.
Requirements
* Completed preceptorship training or have at least 6 months post-qualification experience.
* Willingness to undertake National Security Vetting for prison work.
* Proof of right to work, including ID and address verification.
