Job Description Summary
As a Control and Protection System Application Engineer, you will report to the Control and Protection System Application Manager. You will be part of a dynamic team working on system requirements, design, and verification of Control & Protection functions for HVDC schemes, involving multiple engineering disciplines and innovative teamwork.
Your responsibilities include studying existing designs in MATLAB / Simulink, transferring them to PSCAD, and supporting full delivery cycle activities such as plant model design, verification, and evaluation in PSCAD.
Responsibilities
1. Support Tendering, Operations, Contractual, and After Sales needs.
2. Model HVDC systems in PSCAD.
3. Model AC networks in various tools and validate them.
4. Conduct dynamic performance and protection studies.
5. Convert PSS/E and MATLAB models to PSCAD.
6. Review engineering designs, identify risks, and propose solutions.
7. Understand project milestones, manage technical risks.
8. Improve algorithms and strategies for power fault recovery.
9. Develop new control, protection, and sequencing strategies.
10. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications / Essential Requirements
1. Engineering degree or equivalent with power systems and electronics background.
2. Ability to manage technical risks and work under deadlines.
3. Excellent communication skills.
4. Knowledge of power system interactions, HVDC control, protection, and PSCAD.
5. Willingness to travel and work flexible hours.
Desired Characteristics
1. Experience in HVDC industry.
2. Familiarity with power system study tools like Power Factory, PSS/E, etc.
3. Ability to lead technical discussions and develop client relationships.
