Position: Mechanical Engineer (Based on site at Rolls‑Royce Barnoldswick, Lancashire)
Hours: 40 hrs Monday to Friday
What this job involves
As a Mechanical Engineer at JLL, you’ll be part of a team that’s shaping a brighter way for our client Rolls‑Royce and fellow employees. You will be responsible for maintaining all PPMs and reactive work in relation to plumbing services across these locations. What your day‑to‑day will look like
* Operate and monitor mechanical systems, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
* Conduct regular inspections of plumbing equipment to assess performance and identify issues.
* Monitor and adjust controls, such as water level, pressure, and temperature, to maintain optimal conditions.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
Preventive Maintenance and Repairs
* Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans.
* Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot boiler malfunctions and breakdowns.
* Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs and equipment installations.
Efficiency Enhancement
* Analyse system data to identify opportunities for energy‑efficiency improvements.
* Recommend and implement measures to optimise performance and reduce energy consumption.
* Install and upgrade controls, instrumentation, and monitoring systems as required.
Documentation and Reporting
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
* Generate reports on performance, maintenance schedules, and energy consumption.
* Collaborate with facility management teams to ensure effective communication and timely reporting.
Requirements
* Experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Plumber, Gas Engineer or similar role.
* Strong knowledge of plumbing or gas maintenance, and repair techniques.
* Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., Health and Safety Executive, Pressure Systems Safety Regulations).
* Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
* Proficiency in interpreting and analysing data and performance metrics.
* Ability to work independently and effectively prioritise tasks.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and clients.
* Relevant certifications in Plumbing or Mechanical or Gas operations and maintenance (e.g., City and Guilds or NVQ Level 2 or 3).
