About the team and the role
Ocado Retail is undertaking a critical review of its business continuity and disaster recovery strategy. We are moving from a traditional, system-focused recovery model to a more robust, business-centric approach based on our core value chains. We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to lead this analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for mapping our key value chains, identifying the critical processes and systems that underpin them, and redefining our recovery priorities. The primary objective is to ensure that in the event of a significant incident, we can restore our most critical value chains in a coordinated and efficient manner, with consistent and appropriate Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) for all dependencies.
What you'll do
* Value Chain Mapping: Collaborate with stakeholders across all business functions (including Commercial, Operations, Logistics, and Technology) to map out end-to-end business value chains.
* Dependency Analysis: Identify and document the critical business processes, applications, systems, and third-party services that support each value chain.
* Gap Analysis: Review existing Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) to identify weaknesses and inconsistencies when viewed from a value chain perspective.
* Prioritisation Modelling: Develop a framework for prioritising the recovery of value chains based on business impact, customer commitments, and revenue generation.
* RTO Realignment: Analyse and propose updated RTOs for all underlying systems and applications, ensuring they are aligned with the recovery sequence of the value chain they support.
* Stakeholder Management: Facilitate workshops and interviews with senior stakeholders to gather requirements, validate findings, and build consensus.
* Documentation & Reporting: Create clear and comprehensive documentation of the value chains, dependencies, and the proposed recovery strategy.
Who you are
Essential:
* Proven experience working as a Business Analyst on complex, cross-functional projects.
* Deep understanding of Business Continuity Planning (BCP), Disaster Recovery (DR) principles, and industry best practices.
* Demonstrable experience in business process mapping, modelling, and analysis. Experience with value chain analysis is highly advantageous.
* Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand and navigate highly complex, interdependent systems.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage with and influence senior stakeholders.
* A self-starter attitude, capable of working with autonomy to drive the project forward in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable:
* Experience within the retail, e-commerce, or logistics sectors.
* Knowledge of how cyber security incidents can impact business operations and continuity.
* A relevant professional certification in Business Analysis (e.g., BCS) or Business Continuity (e.g., CBCI).
* Experience delivering high-impact outcomes on a short-term contract basis.
