West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated and motivated Family Group Conference Coordinator to join our Children and Family Services team. The Role
As a Family Group Conference Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and facilitating Family Group Conferences for children and their families. Reporting to the Team Manager, you will be responsible for:
Responsibilities
* Coordinating the referral and registration process for Family Group Conferences
* Working in partnership with social workers and other professionals to identify suitable families for conferences
* Facilitating the planning and organisation of conferences, ensuring the involvement of relevant individuals
* Conducting pre-conference meetings to prepare families and gather information
* Leading and facilitating the conference discussions, promoting effective communication and collaboration
* Ensuring the accurate recording of conference outcomes and agreements
* Providing ongoing support and follow-up with families after the conference
* In addition to the above responsibilities, you will also contribute to the overall development and improvement of the Family Group Conference service, working collaboratively with other stakeholders to enhance outcomes for children.
Qualifications
* Experience in coordinating and facilitating Family Group Conferences or similar processes
* Sound knowledge of child protection and safeguarding issues
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and professionals
* Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities
* Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and proactivity
* A positive and solution-focused approach, with the ability to empower families and promote their involvement in decision‑making
* A relevant professional qualification (e.g. social work, youth work) is desirable, along with registration with the appropriate regulatory body.
