Job summary: An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Specialist Health Visiting Team at the Child Development Centre in Ipswich, to be part of the multi-disciplinary team supporting children under 5 years with additional needs, and their families.
The role will involve observation and assessment of children in a variety of settings including Early Years, clinic and home, feeding back to the multidisciplinary team with verbal and written reports to support the diagnostic process. You will also work closely with families in their own home offering advice and strategies and participate in workshops and parenting programmes with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Experience of working with children who have additional needs would be beneficial.
Responsibilities
* Be part of the Specialist Health Visiting Team and work within the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) including Community Paediatricians, Therapy and Psychology colleagues.
* Provide verbal feedback to the MDT and contribute to written reports.
* Work directly with families, offering support with behaviour, advice, and strategies, including face-to-face sessions in the home and group workshops (in person or virtual).
* Work with children who have additional needs and have safeguarding knowledge.
* Be supported in the role by a Specialist Health Visitor.

Person Specification
Education and qualifications
* GCSEs in Maths and English (minimum).
* Education (formerly NNEB/Cache Diploma in Nursery Nursing) or BSc Degree in Early Childhood Studies or Equivalent Qualification.
* Knowledge of normal child development and developmental milestones.
* Ability to advise parents on effective child behaviour management approaches and programmes of intervention.
* Knowledge of equal opportunities, ethnic and cultural diversity.
* Infant growth and nutrition.
Desirable
* Care Certificate
* Current or recent studying
* Experience of other post-qualification education or training (e.g., play specialist, behaviour modification therapy, group facilitation)
Experience and knowledge
* Experience working with children and families.
* Awareness of Community Services, group and 1:1 programmes; ability to set objectives and evaluate intervention strategies.
* Good communication skills at all levels; ability to use own initiative; ability to facilitate groups; relevant IT skills.
Desirable
* Experience with neurodevelopmental disorders; safeguarding knowledge; experience with pre-school children.
Skills and abilities
* Experience of working with pre-school children and their parents/carers.
* Safeguarding policies and procedures; understanding of health determinants; knowledge of evidence-based parenting interventions.
