Management Accountant Location: Stafford Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm (flexible start times) Duration: Permanent Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 per annum The role: We are looking for a commercially minded and detail-oriented Management Accountant to support our growing clients' finance team. You willl be responsible for key financial processes and deliver insightful analysis that drives strategic decision-making.The Management Accountant will collaborate closely with operational teams, ensuring financial data is both meaningful and actionable, while also supporting budgeting, forecasting, and year-end reporting. This is a pivotal role within the finance team, requiring strong technical skills, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. Main duties: Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including full ownership of profit and loss statements and balance sheets Perform and review detailed balance sheet reconciliations, resolving discrepancies as they arise Provide clear, insightful variance analysis and accompanying commentary Lead monthly meetings with Area Managers to present financial performance and identify trends Supervise and support a small finance team, including a Finance Administrator and Credit Controller Ensure timely and accurate submission of quarterly VAT and Landfill Tax returns Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and ensure strong control processes are in place Manage royalty payments and waste rating calculations in accordance with contractual terms Track restoration volumes and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations Carry out waste ticket exception reporting and detailed data analysis Lead the budgeting process and support year-end reporting, including preparation of statutory packs and tax analysis Provide cover and support for the Financial Controller - Waste as required Serve as a Weighsoft Superuser, promoting system effectiveness and driving adoption across the organization Experience: Fully qualified accountant (CIMA or ACCA), with solid post-qualification experience in a comparable role Strong communicator, capable of translating complex financial information into clear insights for non-financial stakeholders Highly analytical and proactive, with advanced Excel skills and exceptional attention to detail Skilled at managing competing priorities and delivering results under tight deadlines Collaborative team player with a track record of leading or mentoring finance professionals Industry experience in waste, energy, or related industrial sectors is advantageous but not required Familiarity with Access Dimensions or Weighsoft software is beneficial Interested?
