Berry Recruitment are currently looking for a chef for our client in Exeter for an ongoing position. Pay Rate: £14.00 per hour Hours: 50 hours per week We are seeking a creative and experienced Chef to lead our kitchen operations, develop innovative menus, and ensure the highest standards of food quality and presentation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary arts, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences. Key Responsibilities: Plan and prepare diverse menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and customer preferences. Supervise kitchen staff, including cooks, prep workers, and dishwashers. Ensure food is prepared and presented according to established standards. Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment. Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations. Train and mentor kitchen staff to improve skills and efficiency. Collaborate with management on pricing, budgeting, and cost control. Stay current with culinary trends and incorporate new techniques and ingredients. Qualifications: Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar role. Culinary degree or equivalent professional training preferred. Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks. Creativity and attention to detail. Working Conditions: Fast-paced kitchen environment. Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Standing for extended periods and lifting heavy items. Preferred Skills: Experience with international cuisines or speciality diets (e.g., vegan, gluten-free). Familiarity with inventory management software. Ability to develop and cost recipesA successful candidate would need to perform a varied range of daily duties within a busy hotel kitchen.
