About the Role
This is a highly rewarding position supporting an EYFS class, some pupils who do require some extra support. You'll work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to ensure that pupils can access their education and develop to their full potential in a safe, nurturing environment.
The role involves personal care duties, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable with intimate care routines and understands the importance of dignity and respect in all aspects of support.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide support to the classroom teacher- group work and phonics tasks
* Assist with personal care needs including toileting,and hygiene routines
* Implement individualised learning plans and support strategies
* Help pupils access the curriculum at an appropriate level
* Support pupil's communication, social, and emotional development
* Monitor and record pupil's progress and wellbeing
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and healthcare professionals
* Support pupils during breaks, lunchtimes, and school activities
* Adapt activities and resources to meet the pupil's specific needs
* Promote independence whilst ensuring safety at all times
Essential Requirements
* Previous experience working with children in EYFS setting.
* Experience providing personal care (essential)
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to inclusive education
* Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusting relationship
* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
* Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
* Flexibility and problem-solving skills
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable Qualifications
* Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
* Training in personal care, moving and handling, or specific SEN conditions
* First Aid qualification
* Experience with communication aids or alternative communication methods
