Clinical duties will be those normally expected of an Emergency Medicine consultant in a large NHS Acute Trust in the United Kingdom. The appointment objective is to provide enhanced clinical supervision, support the 24‑hour intermediate grade cover, and be readily available on the shop floor during weekdays and as arranged at weekends. General follow‑up clinics and ward rounds take place each weekday morning; each consultant will be expected to participate in these duties.
The unit serves a population of approximately 330,000. New patient attendance averages 380 per day, with 25% under 16 years of age. The department operates a 24‑hour nurse assessment and nurse practitioner service, and admits 20% of new patients. You will be involved in care of patients with a high incidence of acute medical problems and a high ambulance attendance rate over 25% of new workload.
