Main purpose of job: The MGA Underwriting Assistant will be primarily responsible for maintaining and ensuring the accuracy of records kept for the Bloodstock and Trade Disruption (TDI) underwriting classes, working closely with the Underwriters of these classes and with the Operations function as required. The role will also have responsibilities pertaining to the administration of other MGA classes, including Aviation. Key tasks: To accurately record underwriting risk information and maintain all such records in the primary MGA Policy Administration system as well as other relevant systems. To develop knowledge of the Policy Administration System (PAS), Insureflow/Sequel MGA, ensuring that relevant data recorded facilitates accurate and meaningful analysis and reporting. Scanning of slip, endorsements and, where required, placing information. Processing of manual closings and endorsements when required (e.g. Aviation), addressing queries with underwriters and brokers pertaining to premium receipts, and assisting with addressing written vs. paid variances. Keeping up to date on technical and operational issues that impact the MGA platform. Validation of risk information and reviewing and clearing exceptions. Reporting – Provide assistance with the production of regular and ad hoc business reports. Underwriting - Liaise with brokers, colleagues and external organisations to resolve day-to-day queries. Key personal skills required: Good written and spoken communication skills. Inquisitive nature, with the confidence to ask questions and probe to gain further insight. Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internally and externally with clients. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Good analytical and mathematical skills. Strong organisational skills, with ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks and prioritise effectively. Ensure compliance with company and other relevant standards and regulations. Key technical skills, knowledge and professional qualifications required: Some working experience in London/Lloyd’s market. Desire and willingness to commit to studying towards professional insurance qualifications (Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications) via an apprenticeship training route is essential for this role. Good administrative skills, some experience in data entry and maintaining system records is advantageous. Strong IT skills and ability to learn electronic underwriting systems quickly.
