The Role
We are looking for a Works Manager to oversee operations at our "Wick Project" in our quarry site. This is a key role, responsible for managing safe and efficient production activities, including:
* Supervising dewatering, face treatment, silt removal, and reinstatement of the void.
* Managing extraction, processing, and placement of aggregates and inert materials.
* Overseeing import, processing, and recycling of construction and demolition waste.
* Leading the installation, operation, and maintenance of the C&D recycling plant.
* Ensuring full compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
* Leading, motivating, and developing the production team.
* Monitoring performance, reporting on progress, and driving continuous improvement.
This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of a complex project, with responsibility for delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient outcomes.
Who you are
You are an experienced manager with a strong background in quarrying, earthworks, or material processing. You combine technical expertise with excellent leadership skills, ensuring safe, efficient operations while motivating and developing your team. You are commercially aware, solutions-focused, and confident in managing projects to meet targets and compliance standards.
Key Skills
* NVQ in Quarry Management or equivalent (essential)
* WAMITAB, MPQC L4 in HSE for Extractives, or equivalent (desirable)
* SSSTS, CPCS Plant Operator, CSCS Gold Supervisor (desirable)
* Proven experience in quarry management, wash plant operations, and project management
* Knowledge of earthworks, CQA process control, and material management
* Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills
* Thorough knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations
